Terms of Service

Last updated July 7, 2026.

These terms cover every calculator, guide and data page on PaystubTools. Read them before you plug a number from here into a budget, a job offer comparison, or anything else that matters.

What a calculator here is actually for

Each tool on this site, the paycheck, take-home pay, net pay, salary, overtime, tip and pay-raise calculators, turns a set of inputs you type in into a payroll-style estimate using the current federal FICA rate, the current-year standard deduction and tax brackets, and a state rate you supply yourself. That is planning math, not a payroll run. PaystubTools is not a payroll provider, does not have an employer relationship with you, and does not file, remit or report anything to the IRS or your state on your behalf. If you need an actual payroll system, an accountant, or a tax preparer, use one; this site is the calculator you check their work against, not a replacement for either.

Nothing you enter is stored here

Every calculation runs in your browser. We do not have a server-side database of the wages, salaries or withholding numbers visitors type in, so there is nothing on our end to request, export or delete beyond ordinary web logs. Details on that are on the privacy policy, and the two pages should never contradict each other; if you spot a place where they do, tell us.

How accurate a result is, and what happens when one is not

We build each tool from the published federal rate, wage base or bracket table for the year in question, listed with sources on the editorial standards page, and we recheck the constants that reset annually (the Social Security wage base, the standard deduction, the bracket thresholds) against the IRS and SSA releases that set them. That said, we do not promise a calculator will be flawless at every moment, particularly in the short window after a new IRS revenue procedure or SSA fact sheet ships and before we have finished updating every page that cites the old figure. If you find a stale constant or a result that does not match your own arithmetic, the contact page tells you exactly what to send us, and a confirmed fix gets a dated note on the page it touches rather than a silent edit.

Where the responsibility sits

These tools are free, and free tools come with a plain trade: we do the work of sourcing and checking the formulas, and you do the work of confirming a number before you rely on it for something consequential, a mortgage application, a budget, a decision to take or turn down a job. If an estimate here is off and that costs you money or time, PaystubTools and its owner are not the parties who can make that right; your actual pay stub, your employer's payroll department, or a licensed tax professional are. We are not liable for decisions made on the strength of a calculator result, and using the site means you accept that arrangement.

Reusing what is on this site

You are welcome to link to any page here, quote a short passage with credit, or cite the figures on the 2026 take-home pay dataset and download its CSV for your own analysis, attributed to PaystubTools. Copying whole guides or calculator pages onto another site without asking first is not covered by that permission; email contact if you want to republish something at length.

Advertising, affiliate links and third-party sites

Display ads on this site run through Google AdSense, and a small number of outbound links are affiliate links, Amazon Associates among them, that pay us a commission if you buy through them at no added cost to you. We do not accept payment to change a calculator's math or to feature a product favorably, and clicking through to a linked site puts you under that site's own terms, not ours.

Who this site is for

PaystubTools is built for adults managing their own paycheck, budget or hiring decisions. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone in that age group.

Changes to these terms

When something material changes, a new data source, a new ad partner, a change in how corrections are handled, we update this page and the date at the top. There is no separate notice by email, since the only email addresses we hold are the ones people send us through the contact form.
